By | Lexus News | No Comments

Lexus IS Named an IIHS Top Safety Pick+! Recently the Lexus IS was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS),which is an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing the losses — deaths, injuries and property damage — from motor vehicle crashes. Only the safest vehicles earn this prestige, with a vehicle receiving a score of Good in every crash test, as well as passing evaluations of both its headlights and crash-prevention systems.

Lexus writes about the new model, “Bold design is just one way the IS 300 stands apart. With a turbocharger designed in-house, it provides robust power, low-end torque and responsive performance you can feel the moment you accelerate.”

The model received good ratings in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints & seats. In the crash avoidance and mitigation section the 2017 IS received a superior front crash prevention rating, acceptable headlights and good ease of use for the Latch child seat anchors.

What Took Lexus 15 Years to Develop this Blue Paint

What Took Lexus 15 Years to Develop this Blue Paint

By | Lexus News | No Comments

What Took Lexus 15 Years to Develop this Blue Paint? Lexus has been developing the new shade of LC Structural Blue. The Drive explains that it was inspired by the blue Morpho butterfly, the Structural Blue consists of a iridescent hue that constantly shifts as light moves over it. To put this in perspective, Lexus claims that their while normal automotive blue paint reflects less than 50% of incoming light as blue, while the new color reflects almost 100%.

The color is exclusively on the LC Structural Blue Edition. The exclusive model takes eight months, 12 production steps, and 20 quality inspections to produce, resulting in only two models being built every day. Other stand out features of the Structural Blue edition include carbon scuff plates and a blue-on-orange-Alcantara interio. The models are built at the same location that the LFA was built, Motomachi.

By | Lexus News | No Comments

Lexus Returns as Official Automotive Sponsor of New York Fashion Week! Lexus recently sponsored the Spring 2018 New York Fashion Week, after sponsoring the event since September 2015 after Mercedes Benz stepped down as lead sponsor. We initially reported, “Lexus became the main sponsor of New York Fashion Week after Mercedes-Benz stepped down as title sponsor in 2015. Although Lexus has not decided to have New York Fashion Week called the Lexus New York Fashion Week like Mercedes-Benz. Andrea Lim, engagement marketing manager at Lexus says about this decision, Many luxury auto brands share a lot of same core principles [as fashion brands]. There’s the same appreciation for luxury, design, craftsmanship, attention to detail; both are big-ticket purchases.”

Similar to prior years, Lexus will provide a fleet of nearly 100 courtesy transportation vehicles for show attendees and industry insiders traveling to and from Skylight Clarkson Sq, which is the official venue this year. This season, Lexus is offering an experience that gives the public a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a photographer by top fashion talent on an actual editorial set featuring a Lexus installation. Last fashion show, Lexus created an amazing light display alongside model veteran Coco Rocha. The space was engineered by revered fashion photographer and  Interview Magazine Editorial Director, Fabien Baron and created by Stefan Beckman. The set is inspired by the new Lexus LC 500.

Watch Now: The Lexus LC 500 vs Aston Martin DB11

Watch Now: The Lexus LC 500 vs Aston Martin DB11

By | Lexus News | No Comments

Watch Now: The Lexus LC 500 vs Aston Martin DB11. Wondering what it would be like for Lexus’s newest LC 500 to take on a super British car? When the LC 500 first came out we shared this about the model: “The LC will reportedly come with two engines initially, one being the 5.0-liter V8 out of the RC F and the other being an all-new 3.6-liter V6 that will be used in the hybrid version. The V8 will most likely carry over unchanged, but Lexus is expected to use a 10-speed Aisin gearbox, which would be a first for a production car. The hybrid, meanwhile, should be a significant performance upgrade over the GS 450h, making a combined output of more than 450 horsepower. If that’s not enough power for you, Lexus has also apparently hinted that an F-version is coming. It’s rumored to be powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 making around 600 horsepower.”

Lexus writes about the video, “AMCI Global tested the Lexus LC 500 against the Aston Martin DB11 with pro driver Justin Bell at the wheel for closed-course lap times, slalom and wet cornering. And what’d they uncover? “Check out the video to see how the LC 500 competes!

You Can Still Purchase the Impressive Lexus LFA

You Can Still Purchase the Impressive Lexus LFA

By | Lexus News | No Comments

You Can Still Purchase the Impressive Lexus LFA! We’ve written about the Lexus LFA before sharing, “The Lexus LFA, the only V10 ever made by Lexus, first came out in 2012 and impressed with its loud engine that only produces 553 horsepower and carbon fiber body. According to autoevolution, the Lexus development team originally wanted to create the body out of aluminum, but that proved too heavy and had to be changed to carbon fiber. This carbon fiber body is one of the main reasons that the Lexus LFA comes in at around $350,000. This price ultimately led to the Lexus LFA production being ceased after two years, but Lexus has plans for its next sports car the LC 500!”

According to some recent investigative research, Autoblog found that 12 LFAs are still available at US dealers and confirmed the availability with a representative of Toyota. There were only 500 Lexus LFAs made, with 170 of those making it to the US market. Clarification from Art of Gears explains that the LFA, unfortunately, wasn’t as successful as intended, so many models ended up at dealers where the models are more than likely not intended for resale, but for display or will become a future collector’s car.
