Travis Okulski of Jalopnik has reviewed the Lexus RC F, and it’s just full of that signature Jalopnik personality:
Is the RC F better than a BMW M3? I haven’t driven the M3 yet, but I find it hard to think that the RC F would be better. But is that the point? Everyone in this class needs their unique calling card. The Lexus is more blunt instrument than precision tool.
You can’t treat the RC F like it’s a serious track day weapon. With that big snout, carbon roof, and exaggerated design features, it obviously has a sense of humor, which is something Lexus has never really had. And if you can’t have fun in the RC F, then you really don’t know what humor is. That makes the RC F easily the best Lexus I’ve ever driven.

The 2015 Lexus RC 350 is the brand’s first pure coupe in 15 years.
RC stands for Radical Coupe, according to Lexus. Marketing chief Brian Smith says the so-called premium coupe segment is “the place for a loud statement.” The biggest noise will come from the track-tuned RC F (which you can read about in a separate review here).
Lexus returns late to the booming market for compact, luxury brand coupes. Its last fixed-roof coupe in North America–the original SC 300/400–ceased production in 2000. The closest models since have had retractable metal roofs—the SC 430, which disappeared in 2009, and the current, sedan-based IS C. Competition for the new RC 350 is clearly defined: the Audi A5/S5, BMW 4 Series and Cadillac ATS, Mercedes C-Class and Infiniti Q60 coupes.
